Antique Lamp Buyer's Guide: Identifying Late 19th and Early 20th Century American Lighting by Nadja Maril
Collector Bookstore Quick Notes:
Finally! A new price and identification guide on antique lamps! This is one the better reference titles I've seen for collectors, as well as those who buy and sell. It does a nice job of covering kerosene era lamps as well as providing some much needed background and identification of art glass lamps from the early 1900s, including some of the lesser known makers, such as Handel, Jefferson and Moe Bridges. Another highlight is the time spent by the authors on identifying glass shades; specifically, which fixtures they belong to, such as gas, electric, and kerosene. The authors also show collectors how to identify original manufacturer's shades and more recent replacement reproductions. Numerous original manufacturer catalog pages are also included. I do think this title is likely to be a "must have" for anyone who has a serious interest in antique lamps, as well as their component parts.
