Edwin Forrest Bowie Knife by James Batson

In this book I will show you that in 1820 Daniel Searles' apprentice, Rees Fitzpatrick, made a plain hunting knife for James Bowie in Covington, Louisiana. In 1826 after James Bowie had been shot in the chest by Norris Wright, James Bowie had Rees Fitzpatrick change his hunting knife into the Edwin Forrest silver mounted blade with a checkered Cuban Mahogany handle. This knife made by Rees Fitzpatrick 1Nas used by James Bowie to save his life on 19 September 1827 in the Sandbar Fight above Natchez, Mississippi.
