German Daggers and Dress Sidearms of WWII by Kurt-Gerhard Klietmann
German Daggers and Dress Sidearms of WWII by Kurt-Gerhard Klietmann
The collecting of German daggers of the period 1933-1945 has grown rapidly since 1958. As with any type of collecting, popularity and prices rise together. Happily, the dagger collector can still turn up some really rare pieces on a relatively modest budget if he is equipped with good reference material and a desire to get out and look.
As a collector myself, I have long felt the lack of really good reference works in this field. For my own investigations, I have been fortunate to be near Washington, D.C., where most of the captured World War II records are to be found, and to have made friends among knowledgeable people of several countries. When the opportunity to purchase the copyright to the R&L Enterprises book published in 1959 came, I saw it as a chance to put the present volume together and make available an economical basic manual for dagger collectors.
Early in my research, I became acquainted with Dr. Kurt-Gerard Klietmann of Berlin. Without any doubt, Dr. Klietmann has been active in research and writing in this field longer than any other present day author. In collaboration, we present this sound, authentic handbook covering the basic models of German daggers 1933-1945. We feel this book should be useful to the beginner as well as the advanced collector. 1544
