This monograph examines the Confederate system used to recover, clean and repair, inspect, and reissue over 200,000 small arms of all types "captured and collected" from the battlefields of the Civil War. Moreover, the Confederate Ordnance Bureau final inspection stamps applied to these reissued guns are described in detail for the first time. Specifics include:
